Works on the roof of the mouth and bars, although less than a standard eggbutt because of the extra thickness, due to the nutcracker action. It can sometimes help prevent the horse from getting its tongue over the bit due to the high nature of the bit’s mouthpiece in the horse’s mouth when in use. A thicker, lightweight mouthpiece is good for sensitive horses with average tongues.
